Finding a skincare routine that improves your complexion without irritation can often feel like an endless cycle of trial and error – which isn’t easy for your skin or your bank account. This is only amplified for those with sensitive skin, where certain ingredients can cause severe reactions like redness and flare-ups.
Our guide cuts through any marketing noise to highlight a selection of products we’ve tried and tested (and trust), which we feel are nourishing, effective, and, most importantly, gentle. From Korean beauty to clinical-grade skincare, here are our standout products to restore your skin’s natural resilience without any worries.

Best Foaming Facial Cleanser – The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser
The Ordinary is one of the most widely used skincare brands that equally balances quality with affordability. Their Glucoside Foaming Cleanser is one of the top products in their line, which is exceptionally gentle on skin while still effectively cleansing the skin.
Due to its surfactants, your skin won’t feel tight or squeaky clean but instead moisturised and fresh. When applying, you’ll find the gel is lightweight and clear and washes off quite easily – a thumb-sized amount is recommended.
Ingredients include Coco-Glucoside and Decyl Glucoside, which are derived naturally from plants and are much kinder to skin than sulphates and help to create that foam-like texture. In addition to these, it includes Tocopherol (a source of Vitamin E that soothes skin) and Glycerine.
It’s a product that you can use daily, both in the morning and at night, but should be used as a second step in a double-cleanse routine if you wear sun cream or heavy makeup.
Key Skincare Benefits:
- Gentle and Effective
- Hydrating
- Soothing to Skin

Notable mention – Korres Foaming Cream Cleanser
A brand inspired by Greek nature, Korres focuses on skincare made from organic herbs and in-house extraction methods. Their Foaming Cream Cleanser, made from Greek yoghurt, is somewhat of a cult favourite, producing a luxurious lather that leaves skin feeling clean and supple.
The soap-free foam contains Amaranth Seed Extract, which is rich in fatty acids and vitamins, along with a variety of prebiotics and probiotics to help maintain the skin’s microbiome. It’s suitable for those with dry skin or redness, almost providing immediate relief. A pea-sized amount goes a long way, and it can be used daily.
Key Skincare Benefits:
- Microbiome Support
- Immediate Relief
- Nutrient-Rich

Best Facial Toner – The INKEY List Glycolic Acid Toner
The INKEY List’s Glycolic Acid Toner is one of the most accessible and efficient exfoliants on the market. The liquid formulation uses Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin so that later products can penetrate more deeply. It also improves dull skin, creating a brighter and smoother complexion.
The concentration of Glycolic Acid is high (10%) and works more effectively than other products on the market that contain mandelic or lactic acid. Additionally, it contains Witch Hazel that controls excess oil throughout the day. It is a strong formulation, so try it on a small area first away from the face, and swap to their PHA Toner or Mandelic Acid if it causes irritation.
If you suffer from eczema on the hands or another condition, the product may cause aggravation, so consider using a cotton wool pad or the like. You should also avoid using it in combination with retinol or Vitamin C, and apply sun cream when going outside. Start off slow by using twice a week or so, and then slowly increase this over time.
Key Skin Benefits:
- Instant Glow
- Reduces Ageing
- Improves Absorption of Other Products

Best Facial Serum – Beauty of Joseon Glow Deep Serum Rice + Arbutin 30ml
Beauty of Joseon is a popular Korean skincare brand that is now available in the UK, focusing on traditional herbal medicine and addressing common skin concerns. The Glow Deep Serum is a product that is perfectly designed to treat uneven and tired-looking skin daily.
The serum is light and watery and doesn’t contain harsh chemicals, so you can apply the dropper into your hands or directly on the face. The key ingredient is Rice Bran Water (68%), which is rich in amino acids that moisturise the skin. It also contains Alpha-Arbutin (2%), which helps to fade dark spots and prevent new ones from forming.
Key Skin Benefits:
- Gentle Brightening
- Deep Hydration
- Kind to Skin
- Easy to Layer

Best Acne Reducing Serum – The INKEY List 360 Skin Clearing Serum
Spots and blemishes can greatly impact our confidence, especially those that are stubborn or sudden. While not an instant fix, the 360 Skin Clearing Serum from The INKEY List is a fantastic targeted treatment for a range of conditions, including excess oil, aggressive blemishes, scarring, and sometimes Milia (though it’s not recommended as a primary treatment or used close to the eyes).
The combination of Salicylic Acid, Dioic Acid, and Dendriclear work together to reduce sebum production, treat active inflammation, and treat hyperpigmentation. And since it’s not drying, it’s suitable for everyday use (and prevents future breakouts).
After cleansing, apply a small amount to the face and neck or the affected area, and always apply an SPF due to the inclusion of Salicylic Acid. It’s non-comedogenic, so it can be used for sensitive, acne-prone skin, combination, dry, and oily skin.
Key Skincare Benefits:
- Reduces Redness and Blemishes
- Oil Regulation
- Clearer Complexion
- Barrier Support

Best Facial Moisturiser – Laneige Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Intensive Moisturiser
Those with sensitive skin will understand how important it is to find the right moisturiser. Thicker creams often help relieve symptoms better, but can clog the skin. Many also contain fragrances that are irritating, and the rest are so greasy that they can leave you uncomfortable for the whole day.
The Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Intensive Moisturiser from Laneige is a heavy-duty moisturiser that doesn’t feel that way on the skin once absorbed and offers deep hydration that can last days. It may feel a little warm on the skin at first, but it doesn’t cause irritation or redness and has a pleasant scent that isn’t overpowering.
The blue in the name is a reference to the fermentation process that involves deep-sea algae and Hyaluronic Acid for better absorption. The O-Mega Peptide Complex is responsible for the product’s barrier-repairing properties, with Squalene and Panthenol to soothe inflammation.
It is clinically proven to produce instant relief for extreme dryness, improving the skin’s moisture barrier by almost 95% in just three days. We used it throughout the winter months and can confirm this, using it as the final product in our skincare routine after applying a toner and serum.
Key Skincare Benefits:
- Instant Relief for Dry Skin
- Non-Irritating Texture
- Environmental Defence

Best Mud Mask – Lagom White Kaolin Mud Mask
There’s nothing more relaxing than a face mask on an evening while you catch up on your favourite shows. Mud masks have long been the go-to choice, but they can be drying on the skin. Lagom’s White Kaolin Mud Mask breaks the mould here, offering a pore-refining treatment that targets blackheads and excess sebum. It even brightens the complexion while smoothing any rough textures.
The product comes with a small applicator that you can use to spread the clay evenly across your face (focus on the T-zone). This means bacteria from your hands isn’t transferred onto your face or the remaining product in the pot.
The ingredients include a blend of physical clays like Kaolin, Bentonite, and Hectorite, and chemical exfoliants such as PHA (which is great for sensitive skin), BHA, and Niacinamide. The addition of Heartleaf Extract and Centella Asiatica ensures there’s no redness once the clay has dried.
Since the formula doesn’t crack like traditional masks, it is much more effective for pulling out gunk without removing moisture and doesn’t cause that tight feeling either. You should only need to leave the mask on for around 15 minutes for it to work its magic, and then you can wash it off your face with lukewarm water. We recommend using a small flannel or face cloth for ease.
Key Skincare Benefits:
- Targeted Pore Treatment
- Gentle Exfoliation
- Hydration Retention

Best Enzyme Mask – Susanne Kaufmann Enzyme Exfoliator
Susanne Kaufmann is a luxury skincare brand from Austria that uses locally sourced, botanical ingredients in their products. The Enzyme Exfoliator from their range is a plant-based gel mask that we find to be the most effective exfoliator that doesn’t cause any irritation whatsoever.
A thin layer across the face is all that’s needed and has an almost immediate cooling effect caused by the menthol and camphor. It’s great for sudden events or mornings when you need a quick wake-up and a reduction in puffiness.
Other key ingredients include Papaya and Kiwi Enzymes, which digest the dead skin rather than burn it to prevent any irritation. Ectoin also helps to protect the skin from environmental stressors while boosting moisture retention. The addition of White Lupin Ferment is what stimulates cell regeneration, improving the look of healthy and full skin.
You only need to leave it on your face for 10-15 minutes until the gel dries, then use a damp cloth to wipe away the residue. Start by applying it once per week and increase this to two times if you build tolerance.
Key Skincare Benefits:
- Cellular Regeneration
- Detoxifying
- Irritation-Free Glow

Best Overnight Face Mask – Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Sleepair Intensive Soothing Repair Mask
The Cicapair Soothing Mask from Dr. Jart+ is our favourite overnight mask for its ability to reduce redness and repair the skin in just a few hours. The formula is quite light but slightly sticky and greasy, meaning only a very small amount is needed to cover the whole face, despite the instructions saying to be generous.
The Cica Complex contains a high-concentration blend of Asiatic Acid, Madecassic Acid, and Asiaticoside that soothe and heal the skin, along with Niacinamide to even out skin tone. While it’s not a treatment for facial eczema, we found it did reduce irritation overnight to some extent and didn’t cause any further issues, unlike other products.
You’ll find that it leaves a glass skin finish, and in the morning, it may appear as green clumps, which you can wipe away with a damp cloth or with a cleanser in the shower. It is typically used as the last step in your nighttime skincare routine and should be repeated 2-3 times weekly.
Key Skincare Benefits:
- Intensive Barrier Repair
- Highly Soothing
- Clean Formula

Best Bath and Shower Gel – Naturium Glycolic Acid/Daily Nutrients Body Wash
Founded by Susan Yara in 2019, Naturium is an affordable yet highly specialised skincare and body care brand that excels in the serums and body wash spaces. From their body wash collection, we struggled to choose just one, as we prefer using two in combination for the best effects.
Exfoliating – Naturium The Smoother Glycolic Acid Body Wash
The Smoother Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Body Wash does what it says on the tin. It is formulated with 5% High-Purity Glycolic Acid and an AHA blend of Lactic, Pyruvic, and Tartaric Acids to provide multi-level exfoliation, which treats rough or bumpy skin, including Keratosis Pilaris).
The benefits of this wash extend far beyond this, however, helping to remove dead cell build-up for a more even tan and softening the skin around the elbows and knees. The key is to leave the lather on your body for a few minutes before rinsing to allow the product to do its job.
Key Benefits:
- Excellent Exfoliation
- Improves Skin Texture
- Great for Tan Preparation
Cleansing – Naturium The Multi-Vitamin Daily Nutrients Body Wash
What we now consider to be a daily staple in our shower routine, the Daily Nutrients Body Wash is the perfect way to keep the body moisturised while still removing any pollution on the skin. The lightweight gel produces a silky lather with ease and is both fragrance-free and hypoallergenic, perfect for those with eczema or psoriasis.
The formula is made up of a blend of eight amino acids that mimic the skin’s ability to retain water, and a blend of Vitamins B3 (Niacinamide), B5 (Panthenol), and Vitamin E, to support the skin’s natural barrier and improve texture.
Key Skincare Benefits:
- Strengthens the Skin’s Natural Barrier
- Advanced Hydration
- Suitable for Sensitive Skin

Best for Inflamed or Sore Skin – Holika Holika Aloe 99% Soothing Gel
From sunburn to laser hair removal and flare-ups of skin conditions, there are times when our skin can suddenly become very red and/or painful. The Aloe Soothing Gel from K-beauty brand Holika Holika is an all-purpose solution to many skin concerns, designed to provide immediate relief for irritated or dehydrated skin.
As the name suggests, it is almost exclusively comprised of Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, which has long been the go-to for its anti-inflammatory properties. The gel is jelly-like but thin, drying quickly without a greasy or sticky feel. It’s also fermented to increase penetration into the skin.
Other ingredients include Cica (also known for its healing potential), Bamboo Extract, and Cucumber Fruit Extract, all of which are both cooling and refreshing. Don’t just use it on your body, arms, and legs; it can even be applied to the hair for dry ends and the face to reduce razor burn.
Key Skincare Benefits:
- Instant Cooling Relief
- Non-Sticky Hydration
- Anti-Inflammatory

Best Deodorant – AKT The Deodorant Balm
Finding the right deodorant can be difficult since most on the market seem to cause white or yellow stains, fail to reduce body odours, or cause irritation. There’s also the choice of sprays, roll-ons, creams, and more, which can seem overwhelming.
After trying more deodorants than you can possibly imagine, we would now only ever use The Deodorant Balm by AKT, specifically the EXT. After Thunder scent. It is a natural deodorant that comes in a metal tube that you apply directly to your armpits using your fingers.
The formula is aluminium-free and uses natural minerals to eliminate the bacteria that is the cause of bad smells. It’s not an antiperspirant, using powders to absorb perspiration so the skin (and your clothing) is left dry throughout the day. You can even apply it to other areas of the body where you find you sweat often, including the chest and feet.
If the price puts you off, rest assured, it lasts much longer than your traditional deodorant since only a small amount is needed. You can also purchase the smaller tube to see how you feel and then move on to the larger tube once you’re satisfied, which we’re sure you will be.
Key Skincare Benefits:
- Anti-Odour Properties
- Natural Detoxification Without Irritation
- Soothing and Non-Greasy

Best Ingrown Hair Treatment – The Inkey List Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Body Stick
Ingrown hairs caused by shaving can be unsightly, affecting confidence, especially in the summer. While they often become resolved by themselves, it can take some time, and you may find it causes scarring depending on the severity.
One way to speed up the process and improve the chances of your skin returning to normal is the Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Body Stick from The Inkey List. This is a high-concentration exfoliant in a solid stick form, similar to that of a deodorant. You simply apply a thin layer to the affected area when the skin is clean and dry, and only use it 2-3 times a week at first. Give your skin a day or so before shaving again or waxing.
The combination of 7% Glycolic Acid, 0.5% Salicylic Acid, and 10% Shea Butter penetrates deeply into the skin and unclogs oil and debris from pores, while still moisturising the skin. This is why it’s also highly effective in treating Keratosis Pilaris on the arms and thighs and body acne on the chest or back.
As it contains AHAs, it’s vital you wear sun cream on treated areas before going in the sun, since the skin is more sensitive.
Key Skin Benefits:
- Fast-Acting Smoothing
- Reduces Shaving Rash
- Improves Discolouration

Best Body Moisturiser – Champneys Spa Rituals Sandalwood & Sea Salt Body Soufflé
Champneys is well-known for its luxury spa-inspired skincare and body care products. Usually, we’d avoid scented products due to their drying and potentially irritating properties, but their Whipped Body Soufflé is now our go-to body moisturiser.
The blend of Sandalwood and Sea Salt is invigorating, with warm woody tones that almost transport you into one of their spas. The sea salt minerals are beneficial to skin barrier functionality, and the addition of Shea Butter and Glycerine helps prevent moisture loss.
If you’re looking to buy a high-end skincare product for a friend or relative, this is sure to put a smile on their face.
Key Skincare Benefits
- Silky and Smooth Texture
- Stress Reducing
- Revitalising Hydration

Best Beard Moisturiser – L’Oréal Men Expert Barber Club Beard & Face Cream
More men are now taking an interest in their skincare, but it seems the beard is often still neglected. Similar to the scalp, the beard and the skin beneath the hair can become dry, red, and flaky, which is both uncomfortable and unsightly.
To make things easy and effective, L’Oréal Beard Cream targets three common conditions in one easy-to-apply product. The balm contains Cedarwood Essential Oil (which smells woody and masculine), Glycerine, Vitamin E, and corn starch to condition, style, and moisturise the hair and face. Because these can be a sensitiser, a patch test is recommended first.
Apply a generous amount directly into your beard using your hands and massage the cream so that it absorbs into the skin. You’ll experience immediate relief from itchy and dry skin without a greasy feel, and it provides a long-lasting fragrance that isn’t irritating or overwhelming.
Key Skincare Benefits:
- Non-Greasy Formula
- Effective Against Beard Itch
- Soothing After Shaving

Best Lip Moisturiser – BYOMA Liptide Lip Oil
With so many lip balms on the market, from budget-friendly to upscale, it can be difficult to know exactly what will actually moisturise your lips throughout the day. Some disappear within minutes, whereas others can make them feel drier.
BYOMA’s Liptide Lip Oil is the perfect balance of affordability and efficiency, providing a subtle gloss with the deep nourishment of an oil. It works by strengthening the lip barrier through various peptides, ceramides, and lipids. The product also contains Avocado Oil, which naturally restores chapped skin due to its fatty acid content.
We found just one application in the morning lasted several hours throughout the day, and didn’t feel heavy or sticky. Long-term use resulted in much healthier lips that never felt dry during the winter. And like all BYOMA products, the lip oil is free from alcohol and is vegan.
Key Skincare Benefits:
- Intense Plumping and Hydration
- Non-sticky and Non-Greasy
- Barrier Protection

Best Lip Mask – Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
If you’re looking for an intense hydration treatment for your lips that goes beyond a traditional lip gloss or balm, the Lip Sleeping Mask from Laneige does exactly this. Simply use the small applicator to apply a generous amount to your lips before you sleep; when you wake up, you’ll notice they are both hydrated and repaired.
The formula is quite heavy but is designed this way to dissolve dead skin cells and lock in moisture, containing ingredients such as Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Vitamin C, and Hyaluronic Acid. In the morning, all you need to do is wipe the excess away – repeating one or twice a week is enough, too.
Key Skincare Benefits:
- Intense Rehydration
- Gentle Exfoliation
- Improved Lip Texture
